This 0 number has a crisp 14-inch screen that's not too small and offers adequate video playback performance, if you don't push it too hard. If you can spare an extra , definitely double the memory to 2 gigabytes to take greater advantage of the Intel Core 2 Duo processor.
The king of the mini-laptops, the 0 EeePC 900 has a 9-inch screen that will have you scrolling a bit to see a full Web page, but the performance is a step up from last year's EeePC that defined this category.
For about 0, you can get a sharp 15-inch screen with a DVD writer, 3 gigabytes of memory and a long-lasting battery. It's a budget computer that doesn't feel budget.
Fujitsu LifeBook A6210
The 15-inch screen isn't the sharpest, but it comes with a DVD writer and 3 gigabytes of memory, for about 0. You'll get used to the slightly cramped keyboard but praise its durability.
Hewlett-Packard's 0 entry in the mini-laptop game is an established favorite.
MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air
You'll spend more for a Mac (at least ,100), but they come loaded with hardware and software that cost extra on other machines, so you're ready to go right out of the box. Plus, they have an undeniable cool factor, and if you want, you can buy the Vista operating system from a store and install it on your computer to give you Mac-and-Windows flexibility.
A newcomer to the mini-laptop game, the 0 MSI Wind has a 10-inch screen that, like many displays in this price range, seems washed out in bright sun. With its bigger screen, more comfortable keyboard and comparable performance, the Wind challenges the Asus Eee PC 900.
The 0 A300 carries on the Toshiba Satellite tradition of providing all-around value. It's heavier than many of the computers on this list, but with a 320 gigabyte hard drive and 4 gigabytes of memory standard, it is a winner.
Shuttle is at it again with its oh-so-adorable and affordable mini desktops. Late Tuesday night, the KPC 4800 popped up on the company's Web site.
It's similar to the original KPC, the $199 4500, which was introduced at CES earlier this year. The main difference is that the 4800 has an optical drive and dual-monitor support. Also, your color choice this time is, well, there really isn't one. So far, only black is available on Shuttle's site.
It runs Foresight Linux, but has an option to upgrade to 32-bit Windows Vista. The Linux version starts at $279; the Vista machine at $479. Monitor, speakers, keyboard, mouse, and other necessary computing accoutrements are sold separately.
Last week my esteemed colleague Rich Brown made an excellent case for why buying a cheap desktop isn't necessarily the most practical choice for the average PC buyer. First, they're not that much cheaper than what Hewlett-Packard, Dell, and Acer are offering in traditional, more robust desktop systems. And second, "While the Mac Minis and Eee Boxes of the world have visual appeal by themselves, customers still have to figure out how to use them, and their aesthetic and space-saving benefits can vanish once you connect them to a display, and a mouse and keyboard."
But the Shuttle KPC is just so dang cute. Even more so, I daresay, than Dell's mini desktop offering announced earlier this week, the Studio Hybrid, which starts at $499 with Vista.
But looks aren't everything. It's hard to tell just how big a demand there is for this class of desktop.
In the past, we've seen laptops named after high-end sports car manufacturers, such as Ferrari and Lamborghini, but what about the luxury car enthusiast? Well, the wait is now over: Ego has announced the Bentley laptop. In keeping with the tradition of the hallowed British brand, the laptop features a hand-stitched leather lid cover and a curved metal case painted the same colors as the car. When closed, the laptop can be carried by its handle, which is also reminiscent of the door handle of the automobile.
Otherwise, you're getting a pretty standard laptop, featuring Windows Vista 64-bit and a 160GB hard drive. It costs a whopping $20,000--but considering the cost of your average Bentley, we guess that's something of a bargain. The Bentley laptop should be available later this summer (in the U.K., at least). So you still have time to take out a second mortgage on your home and be the talk of the town. Last year, Playboy made the original iPhone sexier with iPlayboy, a package of Playmate-featuring wallpapers and photos for the Apple handset. But what if sexier is still not sexy enough?
Taking advantage of the new iPhone 3G's fast mobile-data connection, iRoticNet today announced plans to premiere an adult video destination designed specifically for the iPhone 3G.
The company said it would offer a huge amount of content from dozens of studios at a much lower cost than other services. For about $10 per month, subscribers will get unlimited access to hundreds of full-length movies and more than 1,000 clips. Now that's a lot of pornography.
The service is available worldwide to anyone who can legally view adult material. It's also compatible with the original iPhone. However, iRoticNet recommends that due to the lack of 3G speed, users of the original iPhone would probably want a Wi-Fi connection.
Personally I am not surprised by this new offering. Currently, mobile adult content is a $1.7 billion business, and considering the ubiquity of the phone, this is just inevitable. By the way, when I volunteered to write about this, my co-worker Joseph Kaminski--a longtime iPhone owner--immediately asked, "Are you trying to get a free subscription from this blog?" Well, that sounds like a good deal, but I really need to be able to get an iPhone 3G first.
Whether you're off to Stockholm, Sydney, or Sao Paulo, pick a world phone for maximum coverage. To help pass the time on long plane flights, a handset with an MP3 player can be a great diversion. The Motorola Rokr E8 is a great option for T-Mobile. The controls take acclimation, but we were pleased with its performance. And speaking of music, you know we couldn't leave out the new Apple iPhone 3G for AT&T. Besides making calls and playing music and videos, it also has a full Web browser. The Samsung Soul is an unlocked phone that offers unique controls and full feature set including an MP3 player, an FM radio and a high-quality camera. And speaking of great cameras, the unlocked Sony Ericsson K850i has a 5-megapixel shooter. For a less complicated handset T-Mobile has the Samsung Katalyst, which offers Bluetooth and it lets you make calls via Wi-Fi. Finally, while Verizon Wireless is a CDMA carrier, it offers a world phone option with its dual-mode Motorola Z6c. There are many more world phones available, we can only list a few here, and Bonnie Cha will follow up tomorrow with her list of best smartphones for global travel.

A Warner Bros. executive says the Batman sequel "The Dark Knight" has taken in $155.34 million to top "Spider-Man 3" for best opening weekend ever at the box office.
Heath Ledger as the Joker and Christian Bale as Batman are breaking box office records with "The Dark Knight."
The figures released Sunday show "The Dark Knight" more than $4 million ahead of the $151.1 million first weekend for "Spider-Man 3" in May 2007.
Studio distribution chief Dan Fellman says "The Dark Knight" also broke the "Spider-Man 3" record for best debut in IMAX large-screen theaters with $6.2 million. "Spider-Man 3" opened with $4.7 million in IMAX cinemas.
Stoked by fan fever over the manic performance of the late Heath Ledger as the Joker, "The Dark Knight" also set a one-day box office record with $66.4 million on opening day, Fellman said Saturday.
The movie's Friday haul surpassed the previous record of $59.8 million set last year by "Spider-Man 3." iReport.com: Did you see 'Dark Knight'?
The Dark Knight Limited Edition
"The Dark Knight" began with a record $18.5 million from midnight screenings, topping the previous high of $16.9 million for "Star Wars: Episode III -- The Revenge of the Sith."
The opening day grosses for "The Dark Knight" far exceeded the full weekend haul of its predecessor, "Batman Begins," which took in $48.7 million in its first three days in 2005.
Reviews were excellent for director Christopher Nolan's "Batman Begins," but they were stellar for his "Dark Knight."
"We've really never seen anything like this," said Paul Dergarabedian, president of box-office tracker Media By Numbers. "The death of a fine actor taken in his prime, a legendary performance and a movie that lives up to all the hype. That all combined to create these record-breaking numbers."

Buzz had been high for the Batman sequel well before Ledger died of an accidental prescription-drug overdose in January. Trailers last fall revealing Ledger's demented Joker, with crooked clown makeup, turned up the heat even more. The critical acclaim over his performance that built from advance screenings left fans in a frenzy.
"It's a combination of things. Certainly, that's a great part of it, but I think this movie's gross was partly because of the reviews it received and the incredible buzz and word of mouth that preceded it with our early screenings," Fellman said. "And the success and quality of the last one, 'Batman Begins,' delivered by Chris Nolan just set the tone for the opening of this movie."
"The Dark Knight" reunites Christian Bale as Batman, the vigilante crime-fighter tormented by personal tragedy, and co-stars Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Gary Oldman.
The film spins an epic crime duel as Ledger's Joker orchestrates a reign of terror on the city of Gotham aimed to spread chaos and break down the restraint that keeps Batman on the right side of the law.
Although critics are taking the film seriously enough to suggest that Ledger could be in line for an Academy Award nomination, the action-packed movie also delivers as pure summer movie escapism.
"If you're worried about mortgage payments and gas prices, when you're sitting in 'The Dark Knight' for two and a half hours, you're not thinking about any of that stuff," Dergarabedian said.
